It's no big secret that I absolutely love Richelle Mead and her writing style. I mean she has written some of my favorite books, both adult and YA. So, it's only natural that I couldn't possibly wait to get my hands on Indigo Spell, the third book in her spin off series. Because you see, even if Bloodlines, isn't yet half as good as Vampire Academy is, I still love both Mead's writing style and the world she created. And after feeling a little bit disappointed with the previous two books in this series, I think that finally, things are starting to slowly get better.

Indigo Spell, was great! Simple as that. Not perfect or mind blowing, but great nevertheless and definitely way better than the previous two books. At least I saw it that way.

Sydney is finally starting to resemble a human being with emotions and flaws, well, she's not flawed, she's still the most perfect heroine ever, but in Indigo Spell she starts showing signs of emotional capability. And I really liked that about Sydney. I may not hated her before, but she definitely was a character I just didn't care about. I didn't hate her, but I wasn't her biggest fan either. And for a number of reasons that I have stated before, so no need to repeat myself. But in Indigo Spell there are signs of improvement in her character. She stops moaning the whole time and judge everyone, including herself. She feels more relaxed, she starts questioning things and act a little bit like the super smart person she's supposed to be. She embraces her magic and most importantly, the fact that she actually feels something for Adrian.

And that is the second part of this book that I really loved. Sydney and Adrian finally, and after that ending in the second book, are slowly starting to roll!There are cute scenes between them, romantic ones as well as funny. Well, it's a Richelle Mead book, of course there would be some funny scenes. But even though Adrian and Sydney's romance is finally moving forward, the story in Indigo Spell isn't just focused there. There's also some action, not an explosive one like in VA, but there's definitely action, and even though this third book in the series is a "bridge" between what happened and what is about to come (and I usually hate bridges, they bore me out of my mind), it is fast paced and a story hard to put down. Well, you guessed right, I devoured it in one sitting. I couldn't help it!

Adrian, well, like I said, he's Adrian. He can't disappoint his fans and he has a way to make you love him even if you don't want to. He managed to change Sydney's opinion, who am I to resist? The rest of the team isn't really making that great an appearance in this book though. Jill and Eddy only appear in a few scenes, while Rose, Lisa or Dimitri just have a line or two in the whole book. Can't complain that I missed them though. I had a lot of things to focus apart from them like the elusive Marcus Finch. I had a hard time deciding whether I liked him as a character or I couldn't care about him. I still haven't decided. He definitely had his moments, but I wasn't convinced. I'll have to wait to make up my mind about him on the future books.

All in all, Indigo Spell is my favorite book in the Bloodlines series so far. There were moments that I actually remembered how it feels to read a book written by Richelle Mead, something that sadly wasn't the case with the other two books. Let's hope that we have even better things to hope for with the future books!

My feelings towards The Golden Lily are a bit mixed one could say... And I have mixed feelings towards this book, because if we were talking here for any other author or any other (spin-off) series my review would be a bit different as well as my rating.

First of all, I just have to say that I have a soft spot for my favorite authors. For me to write a negative review of a book written by any of my favorite authors it would have to be really bad. But at the same time, I tend to judge an author whose work I'm familiar with and I really enjoy a bit harsher. And here is why my feelings are so mixed about The Golden Lily. Because if this was a book by another author, I wouldn't be expecting so much, so I would now be talking about a decent book, but nothing extraordinary that I would probably forget really soon. But we are talking about Richelle Mead here, so excuse me for putting it so blandly, but I expected something more than a decent book. Not that I didn't enjoy The Golden Lily but to be completely honest with myself, it was nothing like what I was used judging by the author's talent. Because Mead is talented. Hands down. For me to enjoy a book that I would completely disregard under any other circumstances, that speaks volumes.

But let's take things from the start. My main problem with The Golden Lily was that nothing amazing happens. This book is completely focused on Sydney, her awesomeness, school and dating drama and all the rest are of little consequence. Surely there is some progress in the main plotline, but everything is wrapped up quickly and without the spark that was evident in other VA books. There were only a handful of fighting scenes and those completely lacked that certain spark. And it's understandable to me to an extent. Sydney is no Rose. Rose was badass. Simple as that. Sydney can't fight, so even if everyone in this book talked over and over again about Sydney's awesomeness and badassness I just couldn't see it.... And it kind of created some expectations that couldn't be fulfilled. To clear myself, I'm not expecting for Sydney to be a new Rose. I don't want Sydney to be badass. Rose is only one and things should better stay that way. But, when throughout the whole book all I read is how great and special and amazing Sydney is, I kind of expect to see that. So, imagine my disappointment when all I got in fact was a Sydney who kept closing her eyes to the obvious, a Sydney who kept bitching about magic (although when needed she didn't pause to think a lot about using it) and a Sydney who preferred to close her eyes and not face reality in every aspect, whether that was her blind trust to the Alchemists or the subtle art of flirting. And for someone who claims that she has to "tune down" her smartness when talking with people, that behavior is anything but smart.

Other than that, Dimitri was more of a decorative character here, almost observing the story, not doing much (I kind of missed his hot self...), Jill was ok and Eddie was by far the most fun character. He always was for me. As far as Adrian is concerned, nothing good or bad to say about him. I liked how he took more space in this novel although we don't learn anything new about him, but the way he approached Sydney was cute and sooo obvious that I enjoyed him all the more.

All in all, The Golden Lily wasn't really good, not by Richelle Mead standards. Nothing much happens, Sydney is as a lukewarm character as always and the best part of this book was by far the last scene. Loved it! That scene, had the spark that I was searching in the whole novel. But just one scene, can't save the whole novel I'm afraid.

What I think:

Richelle Mead needs no introduction. Neither her work. I just love anything she writes even if let's face it, we have seen greater things from her than her last couple of books. But I just can't resist the world she creates, so The Golden Lily is one of my most anticipated books of the year!

I've been dying to read Bloodlines,well,since the very first time I heard about the new spin off series by Richelle Mead!You see,I can't even describe how much I like the Vampire Academy series and since I heard there's more to come in the same universe,I knew I just had to read it!

Having actually read Bloodlines,one thing I can say for sure:Richelle Mead is so,so talented,that even when her story isn't exactly breathtaking,she still manages to grab her reader's interest and entertain him/her!

It's quite obvious,that I just couldn't make myself regard Bloodlines as one of the best books Richelle Mead has ever written.It was good,but not nearly as good as some of her other books.I somehow found Bloodlines lacking of inspiration.Mead took her good and tested formula of Vampire Academy and kind of reproduced it.We again have a private school,though of a different nature,Sydney takes Roses place (kind of),Jill Lisa's and we even get to have another well known kind of relationship between two characters (I'm not gonna state what kind of relationship,don't like to include any spoilers).

Anyway,Bloodlines,is more or less a copy of Vampire Academy,but with considerably less action and romance.I didn't mind so much the lack of romance,it was understandable under the circumstances (though I seriously hope that will change in the next book) but the lack of action bugged me a lot.I'm so used to the well planned and even better delivered action scenes Mead has in almost all her books I've read so far,that I terribly missed them in Bloodlines.There's still some action,but only some...And even if the book was fast paced after somewhere in the middle of the story (the first half was kind of slow) that didn't compensate me by any means.

I really don't need to say much about the characters in this book,or Mead's ability to create memorable and well developed characters.If she managed to transform the forgetable Sydney of the Vampire Academy series to the leading and totally memorable Sydney of Bloodlines,well,that in my book means she can do anything!

Adrian is our well known and beloved Adrian,though I'll just say it,even as the leading male,didn't manage to make me swoon over him.Maybe his role wasn't that big,maybe the fact he mostly beat himself over Rose (which I totally understand,but still,it didn't help me see him as hotness incarnate),tha fact is,I'm kind of still waiting to see more of Adrian.

Jill is the same sweet girl of VA,but we slowly start to see her transformation into a beautiful woman and Eddie,well,I loved him as a character from before,my fondness of him continues even more so here!

All in all,Bloodlines,may not have been the mindblowing book I kind of expected it to be,but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy myself while reading it or that I was disappointed by any means!Thinking of it,I just can't dislike anything Richelle Mead writes...I love her writing style and I think she's one of the best YA (and UF) writers out there.So,even if Bloodlines didn't exactly rock my world,all I can think now that I finished it is how much time do I have to wait for the next book!

At last,the final installment of Vampire Academy series got in my hands and i couldn't be more excited about it!

Having read it,i'm left with a bittersweet kind of feeling!

I loved Richelle's Mead world and to be honest i didn't want it to end...The fact that a spin off series is on the make is something, definitely,but i don't think it would be like Vampire Academy.And not because it won't be that good.There's no way i know it that just yet and it's most certain that i will read this series as well.It's just that since i already know this world and the characters more or less,it won't leave me with that feeling of amazeness you get once you get in your hands something that's really good and unique in many ways.And that is what this series was for me.An amazing and unique series with a cast of memorable characters!

But let's stop beating around the bush and get straight to the point...Last Sacrifice was good,really good!I couldn't put my hads off the book,each time i had to stop reading i was actually experiencing a feel of deprevation,that's how i loved this book.Evenly paced,mysterious filled and i must say once more that i love the way Mead handles two worlds simultaneously.We've seen it before in Vampire Academy were Rose was in Siberia,in her other series Dark Swan as well and in Last Sacrifice that ability is yet again evident.Mead handles delicately the transitions between Rose's and Lissa's adventures and the reader is never in loss.Rose may be away from Lissa but still,we get to know every huge thing that happens to her.The only difference in this book is the fact that since there were many things to say and many things to be done for this story to end,some characters that were in previous books much more active,in this one were more or less absent.Christian was definitely one and Adrian another.But i don't complain...With so many things going on it was either that or a book that long that would lose it's essense i'm afraid.So, no complaints here whatsoever.

Before i continue,i must note that from here under there will be spoilers in my review.I hate to include spoilers in any review i write but i'm afraid that in this case i must make an exception.

As i said,i really liked this book,but some things just held me from being completely amazed with it as i was with the previous books in this series.Maybe it's the fact that Richelle Mead has really spoiled us,delivering books that never cease to amaze you and i just kind of awaited that Last Sacrifice would have that something that would take me over the edge.For one thing,Last Sacrifice,for all the hunting and suspence it definitely had,was no action filled at all.No battle,no anything.And let's be honest,that was something we all kind of waited in the last installment of this series.But no.And although i didn't actually feel that the book was lacking in any department i kind of awaited for a battle of some sort.

Also,what happened to Rose or Dimitri?Dimitri especially was not himself at all!We got to know him as a badass combat god but in Last Sacrifice was more of a puppy.And i swear if he continued for long with that attitude that he would do whatever Lissa wanted him to i would be seriously freaked out...Fortunately he didn't but only to find himself apprehensive towards Rose for any other reasons...Anyway,i wanted to read about a Dimitri like he was in those first books of the series and not about a that much changed Dimitri but ok.It's Dimitri,so i take him as a favorite character anyway!

Lastly,Both Lissa's sibling as well as Tatiana's murderer were a bit of surprises...I kind of knew the murderer after a point but still it was a surprise and despite the motives...well,i kind of hoped for someone else.Anyway,the book leaved many things just hanging there but since Richelle Mead says that this happened as kind of an introduction for the spin off series,i take her word for granted and wait to see how things will evolve then.

All in all,Last Sacrifice was not my perfect ending in all ways,but a happy ending nevertheless for pretty much everyone...And those characters that were left without closure i guess will have to continue their story later.The bittersweet feeling i was left when i finished the book though,was more because i was sad to see this series end and less because i expected anything else of this book.After all,if a writer wrote whatever the readers expected that would hardly make him a succesfull one.And no matter what,Richelle Mead is one of the best authors out there!

OMG!Storm Born was really good and interesting!Thorn Queen... is that much better!I really don't know how Richelle Mead manages but her writing gets better and better the whole time!To be honest,i didn't expect the sequel of Storm Born to be better and some reviews i read where a bit disheartening but i was quite pleasantly surprised!I enjoyed every single page of this book and especially after a certain point i just couldn't put it down!

I liked all of the characters' evolution.We got to learn much more about Kiyo's character,who in the first book of the series was the impersonation of male sexual attraction.Well,in this book we get to know a bit more about his character and motives and to be honest,i wasn't that thrilled of his character!I didn't like how he treated Eugenie at bed and much like he treated her in the bedroom he also treated her outside of it.I somehow got the feeling that he was a bit intimadated by Eugenie's power plus he just wanted to have the upper hand in everything,he just did it in not that obvious a way.More or less i was a bit troubled with Kiyo in this book and by the end of it i was mad at him!

Eugenie on the other hand is yet again torn in this book.Torn between two men and two worlds each one of them are representing a different part of her soul.She loves Kiyo but she's attracted to Dorian as well.She feels human,but the same sense of responsibility that feels towards protecting humans grom gentry,she also feels towards her people,no matter how much she resents herself for that.In overall,Eugenie is among the most well built and consistent characters i have ever come across in books and i just really love her!

Dorian,is pretty mush the same wonderful Dorian of the first book,and although again his appearances aren't very long i just love him!Haven't i already told i'm team Dorian?He still has his own motives about everything he does but he somehow feels a little bit more trouthfull than Kiyo.I just hope he doesn't turn to be a completely selfless bastard,cause that will be a major let down!

The story is amazing!Quick paced and with some breathtaking descriptions!The parts where Mead describes Otherworld are really like coming out of another era!Her world building was obvious from the first book,but here many parts of the story unfold at Otherworld,thus giving us the chance to meet this world in more details!And i just loved the way Mead combined our modern world with the one where electricity doesn't even exist as a concept!It was wonderful!

One more thing i want to add is that i also liked the way Richelle Mead is treating her heroes...She's not afraid to make them live through terrible incidents and get out even stronger as characters.She did it with Rose in Vampire Academy and she did it yet again with Eugenie.I'm not gonna say more cause it will be a huge spoiler but once i reached that part of the book i was left speechless!

After finishing Thorn Queen,all i can think is that i really need to read the next book in the series,but i have to wait unfortunatelly!At least Vampire Academy will soon be in my hands,so,that counts for something!

I just love Richelle mead!She's such an amazing and super talented writer and i can't help but just love anything she writes.She has created three unique worlds and three amazing leading cvharacters in her three seperate series and i just enjoy myself equally regardless of which of her series i'm reading.

Storm Born is yet again incredibly good.Mead created a world that immediatelly sucked me in and a leading character that i couldn't help but love.Having read the first book in each of her series i really can't tell whichof the three amazing heroines is my favorite...Maybe Rose...!Eugenie is smart ,witty,sexy and really deadly.She literally kicks ass but isn't cocky at all.On the contrary,she'a a really down to earth character with a healthy sence of fear and she's afraid of other's as well as what her own self is capable of.

The male characters that consist the love triangle of this story are equally good...So good,that i just couldn't pick my favorite,although by the end i had to make a choice and i just leaned towards the faery part...Kiyo and Dorian are both sexy and caring towards Eugenie,but Dorian just held a special appeal to me.Kiyo was too dishonest for my taste no matter what his excuses might be,but still,reading about him was really yummy..Anyway,the love triangle is so nicely drawn that i,at least, just can't tell who Eugenie's final choice will be.And that is what in my mind makes a love triangle succesfull.Not making really obvious who the final choice will be.With Storm Born,you just keep wondering the whole time...

The rest of the surrounding characters are plainly amazing,each of them developed and with his own voice,thus making the story progress even smoother.

I can go on and on forever about how much i liked Storm Born and all the things that amazed me but the truth is that plainly,there's not a single thing i didn't like about it.All i can say is that i totally recommend any book written by Richelle Mead and this one in particular.It's just plainly obvious that Richelle Mead was born to tell stories and make her readers get lost in the worlds she creates.And that for me is what makes a writer's work really succesful.The ability to make his readers dream in the world he?she created!

Richelle Mead is slowly becoming one of my favourite authors!Having already read and adored her Vampire Academy series,reading Succubus Blues only made me eager to read anything else she has written!

Succubus Blues is so unlike Vampire Academy and not only because it's targeted for a more mature audience.It's completely different and i loved it!I love it when authors don't recycle their own ideas and definitely the only resemblance between those two series is that they both have an adorable heroine.From the first page,this book,started "sucking" me into Georgina's world and after i reached the half of it,i just couldn't put it down!

I daresay,i liked Georgina more than Rose (sorry!!!).Surely,she had her flaws,she could act selfishly at times,but i couldn't help but love her!The dialogues in these book made me laugh,and although it wasn't exactly action packed,i just couldn't put it down!

The romantic plot was amazing,and although i knew who her love interest would ultimately be,there were times i found myself wondering if i was mistaken,and "he" was not the one!And that is something you don't come across so often.In most books,the heroine is falling immediately for the hot guy,and she's on his bed soon after that...

I loved the surrounding characters!The vampires,the imp,the archdemon but most of all,Carter!He was not your typical angel,hanging out with demons,and actually care about them!And i must add,i loved his taste in books!!!

Anyway,there's no way i won't continue with the rest of the series and now i'm seriously thinking to try the Dark Swan series as well cause it's obvious that Richelle Mead knows how to create fascinating worlds in her books and even more fascinating characters!
