Waiting on Wednesday: Rising Darkness

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My selection for this week is:

Rising Darkness by Thea Harrison
Publication Date: April 2nd 2013
Publisher:Berkley Sensation

Summary from Goodreads:
USA Today bestselling author Thea Harrison begins an all-new, darkly romantic paranormal saga, in which the fate of existence itself lies in the balance—and the key to victory may rest in the hands of two eternal lovers…

In the hospital ER where she works, Mary is used to chaos. But lately, every aspect of her life seems adrift. She’s feeling disconnected from herself. Voices appear in her head. And the vivid, disturbing dreams she’s had all her life are becoming more intense. Then she meets Michael. He’s handsome, enigmatic and knows more than he can say. In his company, she slowly remembers the truth about herself…

Thousands of years ago, there were eight of them. The one called the Deceiver came to destroy the world, and the other seven followed to stop him. Reincarnated over and over, they carry on—and Mary finds herself drawn into the battle once again. And the more she learns, the more she realizes that Michael will go to any lengths to destroy the Deceiver.

Then she remembers who killed her during her last life, nine hundred years ago…Michael.
What I think:
Rising Darkness has a really interesting synopsis. I mean this premise sounds like something I usually enjoy. Add to that the fact that it is a story written by Thea Harrison, whose work I'm not familiar with yet, but I have only read the best about it, and you can easily guess why I'm dying to get my hands on this one!

Waiting on Wednesday: Twice Tempted

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My selection for this week is:

Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost
Publication Date: March 26th 2013
Publisher:Avon

Summary from Goodreads:
Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges...

Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover, Vlad, has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever–especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her.

Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity...

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust– the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity.
What I think:
Well, to put it simply, there's no way that Jeaniene Frost will publish a new book and I won't buy it and read it. No way! I just love this author's work so much, and how could one blame, when her stories are simply addictive. I loved Vlad long before he got his own book and now that I already read his story in Once Burned, well, to put it mildly, I was just left wanting for more. Is March too far away yet?

The clock is ticking. Everyone must choose.

Passion. Power. Secrets. Enchantment.

Danger closes in around the Shadowhunters in the final installment of the bestselling Infernal Devices trilogy.
What I think:
Oh well, if you have already read the previous two books in the Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare, then there's no reason for my to justify my selection today... :) This series is simply incredible and if I may say so, I like it even more than Mortal Instruments. I even like the love triangle in this one and that is a rare occurrence for me, believe me! Clockwork Princess is simply one of my most anticipated releases for 2013!

Prima ballerina Catriona de Dovia lives the glamorous life of a starlet, filled with glittering jewels, sumptuous dinners, and admiring suitors. On her own since the untimely death of her parents, she will do anything for the only family she has left: her brother, a notorious anarchist.

Scotland Yard Agent Phineas Gunn—sometimes known as Hugh Curzon—receives his new assignment reluctantly. He's up for something a little more strenuous than playing nanny to a ballerina, until he sees who his charge is. Then, it's a completely different story, because he'd been unable to forget the trusting, beautiful Cate since he had to leave her behind.

As the two race across the Continent—by land, by sea, even through the air by zephyr—it becomes uncertain who is keeping tabs on whom, and Finn and Cate must battle the sexual tension that snaps and sizzles between them every step of the way.

What I think:
I absolutely love Jillian Stone's voice and her strong heroines, so naturally her third installment in her Gentlemen of Scotland Yard series is my autobuy list. If you love historical romance then her series is a must read. It's fresh and full of action along with some seriously sexy romance :)

My selection for this week is:

Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publication Date:November 6th 2012
Publisher:Spencer Hill Press

Summary from Goodreads:
"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

What I think:
The Covenant is among my favorite YA series currently and, I'll just say that for maybe the hundredth time, Jennifer L. Armentrout one of my favorite authors. The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
Publication Date:September 27th 201
Publisher: Little, Brown and Company

Summary from Goodreads:
When Barry Fairweather dies in his early forties, the town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.

And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults.

What I think:
Well, I know, I must be living under a rock for not hearing sooner about J.K. Rowling's newest release... I'm deeply ashamed of myself for that, believe me :P

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, so anything written by this author, must be awesome! The Casual Vacancy is totally different and for a whole different target group of readers, making me believe that I will come to appreciate J.K. Rowling on a whole new level. My selection for this week is:

Cursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publication Date:September 18th 2012
Publisher:Spencer Hill Press

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't?

Waiting on Wednesday: Outpost

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My selection for this week is:

Outpost by Ann Aguirre
Publication Date:September 4th 2012
Publisher:Feiwel & Friends

Summary from Goodreads:
Deuce’s whole world has changed. Down below, she was considered an adult. Now, topside in a town called Salvation, she’s a brat in need of training in the eyes of the townsfolk. She doesn’t fit in with the other girls: Deuce only knows how to fight.

To make matters worse, her Hunter partner, Fade, keeps Deuce at a distance. Her feelings for Fade haven’t changed, but he seems not to want her around anymore. Confused and lonely, she starts looking for a way out.

Deuce signs up to serve in the summer patrols—those who make sure the planters can work the fields without danger. It should be routine, but things have been changing on the surface, just as they did below ground. The Freaks have grown smarter. They’re watching. Waiting. Planning. The monsters don’t intend to let Salvation survive, and it may take a girl like Deuce to turn back the tide.

What I think:
To anyone who has read the first book in the Razorland series by Ann Aguirre it is quite apparent why I'm dying to get this book in my hands. Enclave was simply one of the best books I read last year and Outpost I'm pretty sure it will be equally amazing!

Special Inspector Rafael Lewis hasn’t seen the woman he jilted on the night of their engagement ball in five years. Fanny Greyville-Nugent has spent five years working side-by-side with her recently deceased father, a captain of industry in the steam revolution.
