Paperback, 326 pages
When Carlos Fuentes returns to America after living in Mexico for a year, he doesn’t want any part of the life his older brother, Alex, has laid out for him at a high school in Colorado . Carlos likes living his life on the edge and wants to carve his own path—just like Alex did. Then he meets Kiara Westford. She doesn’t talk much and is completely intimidated by Carlos’ wild ways. As they get to know one another, Carlos assumes Kiara thinks she’s too good for him, and refuses to admit that she might be getting to him. But he soon realizes that being himself is exactly what Kiara needs right now.
What can i possibly say about Rules of Attraction? Not much i suppose except i truly loved it!To anyone who has yet to read a book by Simone Elkeles i strongly recommend that should grab a copy as soon as possible! You don't know what you're missing!
Rules of Attraction follows the same pattern as Perfect Chemistry did.The story is about the second Fuentes brother Carlos and we follow him along his journey with love and becoming the best he could ever possibly be.Despite the fact that the book follows the steps,as long as plot is concerned and writing style,of the first book in the series,it manages to stand out and make you love it!
Carlos,is so much like his brother Alex, and at the same time a completely different character.I have to admit it,at first he annoyed me.All that arrogance and selfishness bothered me a lot. But,that was his self defence.By the end of the story,i grew so fond of him and i got to like even his cockiness.
Kiara is an amazing character.Raised in a healthy environment, kind, compassionate, smart and always trying to best herself and not let any of her flaws put her down.I loved the way she stuttered when anxious.I found it terribly cute!
Apart from Kiara and Carlos' story we get glimpses of the new life of Alex and Brittany and we even get to know how their relationship progresses after Perfect Chemistry ended.I loved the way Simone Elkeles was able to combine those new facts without taking the reader's mind of the main story.
Rules of Attraction is again centered to the struggle of Carlos against gangs but not in the way Perfect Chemistry did.The romance is just as sweet and even sexier. The tension between Kiara and Carlos is touchable.Just perfect!
Simone Elkeles, once more manages to create a beautifully woven and sweet story that just leaves the reader eager for more.I kept turning the pages and wishing that i would never reach the last!
This series is a must to anyone who loves YA contemporary romance and to those who don't,well,i advise them to read it regardless. This book is bound to change your opinion!
