Interview with Gwen Frost from Mythos Academy and Giveaway!

Today I have planned something very special for all of you! Because today, I have invited over at my place my beloved Gwen Frost, the heroine from the very successful series Mythos Academy by Jennifer Estep. And you can't imagine how glad I am that she accepted my invitation, so please welcome her and let's leave all the rest to her! Getting Gwen herself to answer some of my questions was beyond exciting for me and I'm guessing it will be for you as well. At least I hope so! And don't forget to check at the end of the post for a giveaway :)

Anna: Hello Gwen. I'm thrilled to have you as a guest here today!

GF: Thanks. I’m happy to be here.

Anna: How do you feel, being Nike's champion?

GF: You know, I’m still trying to get the hang of this whole Champion thing. I didn’t even
believe in all the gods and goddesses until recently, and now Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, has picked me to be her Champion, the girl who helps carry out the goddess’s wishes here in the mortal realm. It’s a little overwhelming at times.

Anna: Are you afraid, considering what it is expected from you as a champion?

GF: You’d better believe I’m afraid. As Nike’s Champion, I’m expected to battle the evil Norse trickster god Loki and his Reapers of Chaos. So I’m responsible for keeping all my friends safe, stopping Loki and his Reapers, and pretty much saving the entire world. I don’t know that I’m up to the challenge, but I’m going to do my best. That’s all anyone can do.

Anna: When you feel lost and overwhelmed, how do you overcome those feelings?

GF: I just think about Daphne, Carson, Logan, and my other friends, along with Grandma Frost, Professor Metis, and everyone else at Mythos. I think about how much I care about them and how much they care about me, and that helps me keep going and keep fighting.

Anna: What exactly did you think the first time you laid eyes on Logan? Well, apart from how
gorgeous he is!

GF: Well, he is totally gorgeous so there were a few moments when I was just staring at him. Although don’t tell him that I told you that. He has a big enough ego already. LOL. But mostly, I was worried that he was going to go all Spartan on me, since Spartans can pick up any object and know how to fight with it. I just never expected him to be so cute … or nice … or save my life so many times … or how much I would come to care about him …

Anna: Since you love so much comic books, can you tell us some of your favorites?

GF: I just like the idea of comics and folks having all these amazing powers that they use for the greater good. I like knowing that the good guys will win in the end, especially when my own life is so dangerous and so many bad things are happening these days.

Anna: How do you imagine your life after 10 years?

GF: If I’m still alive, it will either be because I managed to find a way to beat Loki and his
Reapers, or I failed and Loki has imprisoned me in some sort of jail. I’m really hoping it’s the first one. I don’t know what my life might be like. I don’t know if I’ll still be Nike’s Champion and fighting Reapers or not. I just hope I’m able to spend time with my family and friends and all the other people I care about and that we are all safe, healthy, and happy.

I’ve seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I’m supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I’m just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me—again.

Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects—and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me?

It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I’m in for the fight of my life.

  12. I love both your strong heroines, Jennifer! Gwen reminds me of a younger version of Gin. They are both so kick-ass yet emotionally vulnerable to the ones they love. Love your books!
