Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Jennifer L. Armentrout... just works her miracles one more time!!!Obsidian is... indescribably good!!!It's so good, that as soon as I finished reading it,I was at a total loss of what to pick up next and be able to take my mind off the amazingness of Obsidian!

I just loved Jennifer L. Armentrout's work from her very first book Half-Blood and all of her next books to be published got into my TBR list almost automatically! And after reading Obsidian,I can officially say that she is one of my top 5 favorite authors!
Obsidian is the story of a quite common and oh so human girl and her next door alien friends. That's right, aliens! To be honest,I'm not that big of a fan of aliens or alien related books (although I really liked the couple of alien related books I read),but the premise sounded really good and since we are talking about an Armentrout book,I just knew I had to read it!And I'm so glad I did it!

Obsidian is a refreshingly smart book with heroes that stick to your mind, dialogues that cracked me up and a totally swoon worthy romance!Katy is smart, sassy, stubborn and all in all adorable!Daemon is infuriatingly arrogant, provocative and with a hot-cold attitude towards Katy that made me mad one minute and then immediately love him again!Their dialogues and the way they behaved towards each other are among my favorite parts of the book.
In Obsidian, you may have an instant attraction but not an instant love. And that always works in advantage for the story in my book.Throughout the whole book,Katy and Daemon fight their attraction, fight their feelings towards each other and everything comes naturally.Katy isn't the girl you mess around without consequences and I loved her for that!

The world building was quite original for me,since I haven't read many sci-fi or alien related novels,so it certainly wasn't something I have read before. What I found a bit unbelievable was the fact that Dee wanted so much to befriend Katy -despite knowing why she probably shouldn't have- but ok!I moved forward really quickly!
The story has an even pace, never letting you get bored, not for a single minute, and I literally devoured the book in about 24 hours.I simply couldn't put it down!

All in all,Obsidian is an amazing YA novel, one you won't be able to put down and one that I recommend to everyone!Jennifer L. Armentrout is just such an amazing author!

  3. If you're looking for a book that includes hot, alien boys, plenty of sarcasm, sizzling chemistry (which leads to one hot little scene), the right amount of laugh out loud moments and is over all is one of those books you can't get enough of, then I'd recommend picking up Obsidian! I think YA fans are going to fall in love with Daemon & Kat. There is some mild language found through out the book and one well written sensual scene.
