Let It Snow Books: Interview with Katie McGarry + Giveaway

Welcome to Day 3 of Let it Snow Books 2012, where for the next three weeks you have the chance to read some really fun holiday posts from some of your favorite authors, both here and at Ex Libris.

Today, we welcome author Katie McGarry here at Books to Brighten your Mood with a festive post and you will have the chance to win a copy of Pushing the Limits, which was a refreshingly emotional story about two young people who manage to overcome any obstacles and find love.
And here's a small preview of my previously posted review of Pushing the Limits:

Pushing the Limits is worth all the early buzz is getting and then some more... It's simply that good a book! It's the kind of book that you just have to read it, reach the last page and then... Read the rest of the review here.

Hello Katie and welcome to Let it Snow Books event! We are very excited to have you here today!
Since this whole event is about the Best Books we read in 2012, could you share with us some of your favorite titles you read this year?
Katie: I have absolutely loved Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter, Something Like Normal by Trish Doller, and Article 5 by Kristen Simmons.

What makes you feel that Christmas time is finally here?
Katie: The decorations and the excited light in my children’s eyes. I absolutely love the bouncing happiness of my children when we put up the tree and how they race home from school to see who can plug the Christmas tree lights in first.

Christmas/the holidays wouldn't be the real deal without...
Katie: My family. My husband and my children mean the world to me.

Is there anything special you usually do for the holidays?
Katie: There is a couple who I consider my second family. They raised me as much as
my own parents did. They own a farm outside of the city and every year we visit
them on Christmas Eve. No matter the weather, we all go out to the barn and gather around a manager with all the farm animals and listen to “my dad” read the Christmas story. It’s a tradition I hope we always continue.

Do you have any favorite holiday themed stories (movies or books)?
Katie: I love The Griswold’s Christmas Vacation movie. It cracks me up every year.

Could you share with us your favorite holiday meal/dessert/candy?
Katie: Any dish with cheese. My husband and two of my children aren’t fans of cheese
(gasp) so I don’t often serve meals that include it. I get so excited when I visit other people around the holidays and can indulge in all things cheese!

Do you prefer an angel or a star on top of your tree?
Katie: Star

Let’s say you have the chance to spend the holidays with a fictional character,
who would that be and what would you be doing?
Katie: Sorry, I know it’s cheating, but I would love to spend the holidays with Echo, Noah, Isaiah, and Beth from Pushing the Limits. I love each of them so much and I would love to give them a home for Christmas.

We all love Christmas holidays, but I was wondering if there’s anything about
them that you find annoying?
Katie: Christmas shopping. I’m not a fan of shopping to begin with. Combine that with my general dislike of large crowds and that’s a recipe for a panic attack.

What would you ask Santa to bring you this year?
Katie: Taylor Swift tickets for my daughter. She’s dying to go to her first concert ever
and those tickets are impossible to nail down.

Thank you Katie for stopping by here today and Happy Holidays!

They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

  27. Stars all the way. We had an angel growing up but it was old, cracked and faded. There was a missing eye and it looked like she had been on fire previously. It creeped me out to no end, which has spread to all angels.

The Doctor Who fans have an additional reason not to dig angels. =)
