Hardcover, 308 pages

Luis Fuentes has always been sheltered from the gang violence that nearly destroyed his brothers’ lives. But that didn’t stop him from taking risks—whether he’s scaling a mountain in the Rockies or dreaming of a future as an astronaut, Luis can’t stop looking for the next thrill.

Nikki Cruz lives her life by three rules—boys lie to get their way, don’t trust a boy who says “I love you,” and never date a boy from the south side of Fairfield. Her parents may be from Mexico, but as a doctor’s daughter, she has more in common with her north-side neighbors than the Latino Blood at her school. Then she meets Luis at Alex’s wedding, and suddenly, she’s tempted to break all her rules.

Getting Nikki to take a chance on a southsider is Luis’s biggest challenge, until he finds himself targeted by Chuy Soto, the new head of the Latino Blood. When Chuy reveals a disturbing secret about Luis’s family, the youngest Fuentes finds himself questioning everything he’s ever believed to be true. Will his feelings for Nikki be enough to stop Luis from entering a dark and violent world and permanently living on the edge?

I can't believe what I'm about to say,but I didn't quite enjoy Chain Reaction as much as I expected to...I mean, I was ecstatic as soon as I got this book in my hands and thrilled to be able to read it at last...Now I read it,I'm afraid that Chain Reaction is nothing like what I imagined and all in all,a book I won't really remember for that long.

First of all,the story was more or less the same once more. That,I expected, despite what I heard that this time around,a Fuentes boy would be the good one and his girl the more rebellious nature.I expected that much, cause hey,we're talking about a Fuentes here...!But what threw me off track was that Luis did, from the very beggining of the story, introduce himself as nothing like his brothers, more controlled sort of,only to forget every single good thing he did as soon as he set foot on his old home town. It's like Fairfield brings out the worst in all Fuentes!
So,where's the need for them to move back, where everything seems to be standing in a balance ready to shatter?
I know why!So as for Luis to have a reason to go all gangbanger!
I mean, come on, why on earth would all Fuentes boys return to their hometown, where everything seem to stand on an easy truce and risk everything?I couldn't see the need and the fact that Luis only behaved as his brothers, who at least had some excuses or the need to do so,just threw me off completely.

Nikki on the other hand was a nice enough character I suppose, only I couldn't sympathise to her no matter what, and her cynicism, especially at the beggining didn't help matters.I got what she was going through, but still,I don't know I was a bit detached to her as a character and her personal story.

And now on to the romantic part of the story, which again, failed to grasp my interest miserably.I didn't care about their romance, whether they two ended up together or not,I just kept on reading in a sort of detached way,not really caring about what happened to both of them, and that is what astonished me more in Chain Reaction.
I mean,Simone Elkeles is a gifted writer, she knows how to create multi dimensional characters, that are able to take the reader along with their journey, but in this case,no matter how good her characters were, they just failed to take me with them...
I don't know if I should solely put the blame on having read the same story more or less previously...That didn't bother me with Rules of Attraction not one tiny bit...

All in all,Chain Reaction isn't a bad book, not even by a long shot...It's beautifully written, with well built characters and a story that flows easily,it just lacks the magic the previous two books in the series possess. That doesn't make a book bad, just not as good and magical as the others.

When Carlos Fuentes returns to America after living in Mexico for a year, he doesn’t want any part of the life his older brother, Alex, has laid out for him at a high school in Colorado . Carlos likes living his life on the edge and wants to carve his own path—just like Alex did. Then he meets Kiara Westford. She doesn’t talk much and is completely intimidated by Carlos’ wild ways. As they get to know one another, Carlos assumes Kiara thinks she’s too good for him, and refuses to admit that she might be getting to him. But he soon realizes that being himself is exactly what Kiara needs right now.

What can i possibly say about Rules of Attraction? Not much i suppose except i truly loved it!To anyone who has yet to read a book by Simone Elkeles i strongly recommend that should grab a copy as soon as possible! You don't know what you're missing!

Rules of Attraction follows the same pattern as Perfect Chemistry did.The story is about the second Fuentes brother Carlos and we follow him along his journey with love and becoming the best he could ever possibly be.Despite the fact that the book follows the steps,as long as plot is concerned and writing style,of the first book in the series,it manages to stand out and make you love it!

Carlos,is so much like his brother Alex, and at the same time a completely different character.I have to admit it,at first he annoyed me.All that arrogance and selfishness bothered me a lot. But,that was his self defence.By the end of the story,i grew so fond of him and i got to like even his cockiness.
Kiara is an amazing character.Raised in a healthy environment, kind, compassionate, smart and always trying to best herself and not let any of her flaws put her down.I loved the way she stuttered when anxious.I found it terribly cute!

Apart from Kiara and Carlos' story we get glimpses of the new life of Alex and Brittany and we even get to know how their relationship progresses after Perfect Chemistry ended.I loved the way Simone Elkeles was able to combine those new facts without taking the reader's mind of the main story.
Rules of Attraction is again centered to the struggle of Carlos against gangs but not in the way Perfect Chemistry did.The romance is just as sweet and even sexier. The tension between Kiara and Carlos is touchable.Just perfect!

Simone Elkeles, once more manages to create a beautifully woven and sweet story that just leaves the reader eager for more.I kept turning the pages and wishing that i would never reach the last!
This series is a must to anyone who loves YA contemporary romance and to those who don't,well,i advise them to read it regardless. This book is bound to change your opinion!

When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.
In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.

OMG!!!!There are not many things i can say about Perfect Chemistry except that i enjoyed every single page in this book!I can't remember when was the last time i got so engrossed in a book that i lost track of time.Surely i've read other amazing books but nothing like it!

I loved Elkeles's characters. Not only Brittany and Alex but Shelley,Paco,Isabel, all the characters in this book felt like being right!I liked Brittany for how she handled her problems and even when imprisoned in her very own image she didn't stop to amaze me.I loved Alex for the way he cared about the people he loved, even if he claimed that he didn't care about anyone else but himself.

I really can go on and on with all the things i like, but the truth is that there wasn't anything that i didn't like about this book.I don't know if it had any flaws, and to be honest i don't care... I was so enjoying myself that any flaws,if there were, went unnoticed.

I wanna thank my friend Giota who recommended this book to me and insisted i read it,and once more, her recommendation was amazing and now i'm only eager to read anything else by Simone Elkeles and certainly the next book in the series Rules of Attraction!
