TGIF at Greads (1)

I recently found this feature and really liked the idea behind it,so here I am!It's hosted over at GReads and the questions are always too much fun to resist!

This week's question is:

Gateway Books: Which particular books opened you up to a new genre?

If you ask me right now why I loved so much that book back then,I honestly wouldn't be able to answer you...Having read tons of paranormal YA books since then I know it's nothing so special as I thought back then, but Twilight is the reason I came back to reading tons of books as soon as I finished university and was done with tons of mandatory reading! For that,it will always have a special spot in my heart.

Harry Potter series is a special series for a million different reasons!I grew up reading those books and it was my first attempt at fantasy.I'm ashamed to admit it (well, not really...) but it was first Harry Potter and then Lord of the Rings...!

My first ever Dystopian book and one that deeply affected it me in many levels.Dystopian books ever since hold a special spot in my heart! The reasons are apparent to anyone who has read these books!

With Going too Far I was introduced to contemporary YA literature.Since then I have certainly read contemporary YA books I loved more but I think it was the best way for me to be introduced in this genre!

Which are some books that opened you in a new genre?I'd love to see which are yours and maybe get some new book recommendations!

  1. I loved the Harry Potter books, but I'm still skeptical about reading Fantasy. I had seen the Game of Thrones books at the bookstore and thought about getting them, but then figured I probably wouldn't like them. Same with the Lord of The Rings books--I have them, but I'm just not sure I have what it takes to read them.

    Happy TGIF! :)

  2. Harry Potter, just love, I read each as they came out. Such a cool experience to have read the books pre-movies and having to wait a year till the next one came out! Just made it all the more special.

  3. Authors like Jennifer Echols (there are too many to list) and L.J. Smith really brought me into this genre. Twilight kind of just solidified my feelings. Now I'm in love.

A great question to ask, because it gives you fun and loving memories of wonderful books read long ago. It takes me back...

  4. I feel much the same way about Twilight. I adored it when I first read it. But now? I can't get through the first chapter without falling asleep. I'm glad it got me back into reading though.
