"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
My selection for this week is:
Ripple by Mandy Hubbard
Publication Date: July 21st 2011
Publisher: Razorbill/Penguin
Summary from Goodreads:
Lexi is cursed with a dark secret. Each day she goes to school like a normal teenager, and each night she must swim, or the pain will be unbearable. She is a siren - a deadly mermaid destined to lure men to their watery deaths. After a terrible tragedy, Lexi shut herself off from the world, vowing to protect the ones she loves. But she soon finds herself caught between a new boy at school who may have the power to melt her icy exterior, and a handsome water spirit who says he can break Lexi's curse if she gives up everything else. Lexi is faced with the hardest decision she’s ever had to make: the life she's always longed for - or the love she can't live without?
What I think:
I still haven't read a single book about mermaids but Ripple just tempts me to be the first one I ever pick up.It has an eye-catching cover and a premise that sounds more than intriguing. What more should I ask to just drool over it?
Ha! I'm seeing a lot of sirens going around today! Another one to go on the TBR! Thank you!

I had never thought about mermaid fiction...but it sounds good!
ReplyDeleteI love books about mermaids but many of them can get a bit childish since they're usually for younger readers! (I'm young but not that young hahaha) So I'm really anticipating Ripple too:D
ReplyDeleteIf you like Ripple, you can try Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs! It's a cute book and the main character's a mermaid (:

Me too!! I haven't read a book on mermaids yet either. It's interesting--I can't name a single mermaid book that I know that's incredibly popular... but Mandy Hubbard's does sound promising. I love the menacing yet light(ish) cover for this one too.
