Paperback, 336 pages

When Sophie Mercer turned thirteen, she discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-Gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hecate Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward prodigium, a.k.a. witches, fae, and shapeshifters. By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard. Three powerful enemies who look like supermodels; a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock; a creepy, tag-along ghost; and a new roommate, who happens to be the most-hated person and only vampire on campus. Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her friend Jenna is the number one suspect. Meanwhile, Sophie has a more personal shock to grapple with. Not only is her father the head of the prodigium council, he's the most powerful warlock in the world, and Sophie is his heir. As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all prodigium, especially her.

I just loved, loved, loved Hex Hall!!!It wasn't just a book i couldn't put down,it was among those that even when you have to put down,to do things like sleeping or actually talking to your boyfriend who is desperately trying to catch your attention, you are still thinking about it!That was how much i liked Hex Hall!

It was fast paced and smartly written and even though at the first half more or less, nothing actually happens, you just keep on reading cause Rachel Hawkins manages to present her characters and her world in such a manner, that even when nothing happens, you are eagerly turning the pages, sucked in her magical world!A world truly fascinating!Hawkins mixes vampires, witches, faeries and demons creating a world that grabs the reader immediately. The plot was well built and without holes,at least none that i could see and the characters just loveable.

Sophie is smart and funny, delivering lines throughout the whole story that made me smirk and laugh constantly.Archer is your typical hot male character but really enjoyable. He is not predictable in his reactions and the romance between those two builts slowly leaving the reader eager to see what happens with their relationship in the sequel. What i really like though, was that Rachel Hawkins spends time builting not only her main characters but the side characters in this book as well, and especially we get to know many things about Sophie's father even though he never appears in this first book.

The ending was unbelievable!Although there are the hints that lead to it quite early in the story, Hawkins manages to take the mind of the reader from them, the ending coming to you as much a surprise as though you never even picked up those hinds before.

All in all,Rachel Hawkins' debut novel is interesting, well written and totally addictive!I just can't wait for the sequel!
