Weird as it is working for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, Evie's always thought of herself as normal. Sure, her best friend is a mermaid, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals' glamours, but still. Normal.

Only now paranormals are dying, and Evie's dreams are filled with haunting voices and mysterious prophecies. She soon realizes that there may be a link between her abilities and the sudden rash of deaths. Not only that, but she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.

I can't say much about Paranormalcy other than i really, really loved and enjoyed it!Kiersten White's writing style is fresh and funny something that made me respect her.Having read a number of YA books lately i found myself comparing them all the time and even worse there were times where each book reminded me the previous but for some details. As a result,no matter how i liked a book, after some days when i try to remember it's plot, every YA book i've read comes in my mind in a blur. But the amazing thing with Paranormalcy is that manages to stand out. What with the fresh writing style, the amazing heroine and the completely new elements in a universe that so many other writers have used before,White manages to deliver a book that you are bound to enjoy and remember it as something unique.

Evie is a remarkable heroine, witty, spunky and down to earth. She knows what she wants and she doesn't hide behind any cute man or boy and wait to be saved. She has high self esteem (at last after all those damsells in distress that have overflowed YA literature who don't stop moaning about how ugly or inadequate they are) and actually thinks for herself. Her fascination with school and lockers and all those things that we think are really earthy and unremarkable just made her character even more appealing to me.

Lend was again a nicely delivered character. The romance between those two was again really good written, not the typical "I see cute boy,i fall in love with cute boy in seconds,i die for cute boy in minutes" scheme which most YA authors seem to use lately. The plot had enough twists to keep you interested throughout the whole book and as a plus, although most of the plot points where cleared by the end of the book, there were some things left unanswered to make you eager for the sequel.

All in all,Paranormalcy is a fresh YA deput novel that you don't want to miss.Among all those new releases it does stand out and as a plus it has an amazing cover!
