READING: Graceling (The Seven Kingdoms Trilogy, #1) by Kristin Cashore

Katsa has been able to kill a man with her bare hands since she was eight — she’s a Graceling, one of the rare people in her land born with an extreme, and in her case horrifying, skill. As niece of the king, she should be able to live a life of privilege, but Graced as she is with killing, she is forced to work as the king’s thug. When she first meets Prince Po, Graced with combat skills, Katsa has no hint of how her life is about to change. She never expects to become Po’s friend. She never expects to learn a new truth about her own Grace — or about a terrible secret that lies hidden far away... a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone

When i bought this book i had no expectations whatsoever despite the many good reviews it has received. And i'm glad that it lived up to its good reviews. There wasn't a single thing i didn't like about this book. The characters were as if alive and acting on their own volition, with flaws yet loveable...Katsa is a strong female protagonist who finds her prince, but doesn't need him to protect her and can definitely lead her steps without a male bossing her around. She's a character that a girl or woman reader can easily identify parts of herself in her and to be honest it was an oasis in the dessert of the mass of books with female protagonists who hide themselves behind a guy.
As i said,i enjoyed this book from the first till the last page and i can't wait to read the next books in the series.
